The wonderful painter and instructor Ed Ahlstrom recommends that painting students continue the practice of close-focus studies of features beyond the classroom. Excellent advice.

And I'm blogalong number two. I seem to follow Ed's crumbs to some of the best blogs. And now he has led me to yours. Primarily a wildlife artist, I am venturing into portraiture and "stalk" godd portrait artists...and you are one. I invite you to visit my blog of March 11 and comment or critique my first commissioned portrait (and if you're in need of a few smiles, visit the 5 part "blog party" of March 8.
And Liz, your pooch portrait was great...Sheila Tajima will be along before long..she and Carrie Jacobson just launched "Art for Animals" which she will tell you about. Great site...come visit..the coffee's on.

Thanks, Faye - they're fun to do, and really help me when I'm struggling with paint handling. Thank you!
