Window Seat

watercolor
9" x 12"

Gosh, almost a year since I've posted. Thought I'd restart with a painting I had done of one of the wild cats my mother had rescued many years ago. This was Loveye. The first one rescued, and the last of mom's cats to pass away. She liked to sit in the South window tucked between a keepsake box and a childhood photo of my stepfather. She was devoted to mom, and survived through the advanced stages of mom's Alzheimer's. Which, in retrospect, spared Mom some grief when Loveye passed away.

It's be fun joining Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. My goal for the challenge wasn't to  paint one painting start to finish in a day. I usually have 10 to 20 paintings in various stages of development in the studio. Some take days, some weeks, some months to resolve. I layer on paint, scrape out, start over, and sometimes just watch them for a while before completing.  My goal for the challenge was to finish one per day, and that one may have been "cooking" for quite a while. Thanks to Leslie for hosting the challenge, and generously letting artists continue to post to her blog site. She also hosts a weekly radio show called "Artists Helping Artists." Well worth the visit.

Thanks for stopping in. Happy Painting!
